I play 1e4 e5 2f4 eXf4 3d4 and could really use some help on how to
follow up. What are the main lines? Pointers to good books or internet
sites are very welcome. Thank you.

As noted above, 3.d4 doesn't inspire a lot of confidence but US I
Kamran Shirazi seems to use it occasionally, along with some othe
'half crazy' variations! Not healthy for your bloodpressure during pla
perhaps, but at least his games with this variation are highl
entertaing *fighting* chess! :)

In about a month I'll add an article to my site, on the Eisenber
Gambit 1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nh3!?/?! which is not as bad as it looks(!)
though it's probably most suitable as blitz weapon...
(There's already some other stuff on the KG a

If you want to play a sound King's Gambit, i.e. keep some kind o
control over what's happening, I can recommend my book on 1.e4 e5 2.f
exf4 3.Bc4!? called The Fascinating King's Gambit - see this page on m
site for more info on it: http://hem.passagen.se/tjmisha/countdown.htm

I'm no KGA expert, but I believe 3.d4 has been out of favor for some
time. "Nunn's Chess Openings" (1999) gives 3...Qh4+ 4.Ke2 d5 5.Nf3 Bg4
6=2Eexd5 Nf6 7.Qe1 Qxe1+ 8.Kxe1 Bxf3 9.gxf3 Nxd5 10.c4 Ne3 with slight
advantage to Black. MCO-13 (1990) gives 3...d5 4.exd5 Qh4+ 5.Ke2 Bd6
6=2ENf3 Bg4 7.c4 c5 8.Nc3 Nf6 9.dxc5 Bxc5 10.Kd2, unclear,
Mason-K=FCrschner, Nuremberg 1882.
I believe the main problem with 3.d4 is that it gives the king no
good square after 3...Qh4+, unlike 3.Nf3 which prevents the check, or
3=2EBc4 which allows 4.Kf1.
