Ray's Game of the Day (GOTD) has been published for Sunday, July 16, 2006 on
my site.

In this game I had White against a 2100-rated player with Black. The time
control was one-minute.

Run the game through a computer and you'll find surprisingly few mistakes,
on my side at least.

1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. e5 Qd7 5. a3 Bxc3+ 6. bxc3 b6 7. f4

No one has ever convinced me that this move is not playable, even though
every book on the Winawer completely avoids it, and it is played in almost
every other variation of the French.

I'll consider opening this forum to guests, but I'm amused by protests like
this one.

It's amazing how much can be spotted in one minute, though there are
errors that shouldn't happen in a regular game. What organization rated
him 2100, and which was the first move outside your opening book?

Trade secret.

Trade secret.

Sorry.

:-)

At least people know what I play against the Winawer now. Let's just say
I'm booked up in this line a bit past move 7.

I was ahead on time and more or less knew I could flag him at that point.
If the mate were a phantom, I risked losing.

Not that I shouldn't have found the mate, of course.
