Shortest proof game for ...

1) White gives checkmate, with assistance from Black, but without moving
any of his own pieces beyond the 4th rank. Example in 31 ply: 1 e4 e5 2
h4 Ne7 3 Rh3 Nec6 4 Nc3 Bb4 5 Bc4 Kf8 6 d3 d6 7 Re3 Be6 8 Bd2 Nd7 9 Qe2
Qxh4 10 O-O-O Qh1 11 Kb1 Kg8 12 Ka1 g5 13 b3 Bxc4 14 bxc4 Rf8 15 Rg3 g4
16 Rxg4#

(This -can- be done more quickly, though, can't it?)

2) Produce the following position:

k7/P7/P7/P7/P7/P7/P7/K7 (it does not matter which player is to move,
though it may be possible to get fewer ply with one or the other).

(I cannot even figure out a game for this right now ...)

3a) Shortest game possible in which a player has nine queens?

This is harder than it seems, chiefly due to the increasing difficulty
of keeping so many queens on the board without giving mate (or
stalemating someone or forcing them to take a needed Queen) before all
promotions are complete. My attempt here is what is probably a horribly
bad 102 ply: 1 d4 d5 2 e4 e5 3 Bc4 dxc4 4 Bf4 exf4 5 d5 f3 6 g4 c5 7 Qe2
fxe2 8 Kd2 b5 9 Ke3 e1Q 10 Kf4 c3 11 Nd2 cxb2 12 Nb3 bxa1Q 13 Nd4 cxd4
14 d6 d3 15 c4 bxc4 16 e5 d2 17 f3 d1Q 18 g5 c3 19 Nh3 c2 20 e6 c1Q+ 21
Kg4 a5 22 Kf5 a4 23 Kg4 a3 24 Kf5 Qxa2 25 Kg4 Qab2 26 Kf5 a2 27 Kg4 a1Q
28 Kf5 h5 29 Nf2 f6 30 Ng4 hxg4 31 g6 g3 32 f4 g2 33 h4 gxh1Q 34 h5 Qda4
35 Kg4 Qea5 36 Kg3 f5 37 e7 Nc6 38 exf8Q Kxf8 39 d7 Ne5 40 fxe5 f4+ 41
Kg4 f3+ 42 Kg3 f2 43 dxc8Q f1Q 44 Qxa8 Nf6 45 exf6 gxf6 46 Qf3 f5 47 Qb7
f4 48 Kg4 f3+ 49 Kg3 f2 50 Qc7 Qfd1 51 Qb7 f1Q

and now Black has nine queens, a total of 10 queens on the board, and
counting two captured White queens the game has had a total of 12 ladies
overall.

3b) Are 18 queens possible on the board? If so, what's the shortest
possible game to get them?

1. h3 e6
2. d4 Bd6
3. e4 Ne7
4. Bf4 h5
5. Nc3 O-O
6. Nf3 Kh8
7. Bd3 Rg8
8. g4 hxg4
9. hxg4#
1-0
