CAN THE TEXT PORTIONS OF ANNOTATED GAMES IN CHESSBASE EVER VANISH ??

I had some annotated games of my mine in some old computer, in
chessbase light. I wanted to transfer those to chessbase 9.0, in
another comp. So I did that, and the to my surprise I have found that
even though the variations are all there, the text parts are all gone !
Then I went back to my old chessbase light, and they have disappeared
there, too ! I dont know when exactly they disappeared and if the
transferring of files had anything to do with it..but I find it
astonishing that this happened.
Does anybody have any idea ? Is there any way to bring them back ?
Samik

actually..now I know what might have happened. I accidentally clicked
on the .cba file in old cblight, and it must have gotten corrupted
(because the icon symbol changed !). So I have transferred a corrupt
.cba file to begin with. So, I guess my new question is " IS THERE ANY
WAY TO FIX THE .CBA FILE EITHER IN OLD CBLIGHT OR NEW CB9 ?"

I did transfer all the files including .cba.
I did do an integrity check of the database in CB9, and its said 'no
error. I dont know how to check and repair the .cba file separately.
However, when enter new games in that database in CB9, and then put
annotations their, they stay. That means the .cba file is there, isnt
it ?
In any case, I hope the files being being corrupted won't harm my new
CB 9 ? losing the annotations was bad, but I will be far worse is CB9
itself gets harmed

But they are GONE even in the old CBlight !
I would understand if they are not transferred to CB9, but why would
they be gone from the old cblight too ?

That's what I meant. AFAIK CB light doesn't save comments at all. That's
why I was so surprised that it apparently worked for you some time in
the past.

Yes, if you delete them, if you don't copy the annotation file or if the
annotation file has become corrupted.

The annotations are stored in the *.cba file of the database. Be aware that
you have to copy all the databes files with a variety of extensions, not
only the header file (*.cbh).

If the databasse is corrupt and all files are still there, you might try to
run a database check and repair under CB9/

If you deleted the cba-file, maybe you can get it still back with an
undelete program - either from the recycle bin or with a program like
restoration (http://www.snapfiles.com/download/dlrestoration.html)

Nope, they are lost. Same thing happens when exchanging data between CB
Light and Fritz. Actually I am surprised that it actually worked some
time in the past, because I noted this behavior every single time I
tried to save something in CB light...
