The following game was played a few weeks ago during a Cup match at our
chess club. I think it's really entertaining. I hope you share my
enthusiasm...
http://tinyurl.com/bgbx3
(FWIW the time control is 1 hour for 30 moves and then 15 minutes to finish
your moves - ie 2 hours for a game)

Enjoy.

BTW the game is displayed using MyChess viewer and in case you don't know if
you press F11 you can press F11 to toggle the Full Screen.

I found it as very interesting - thanx... I didn't any analysis as
positions are quite complex, - but it is "nice" for my eyes (looks
good)...

It is indeed an entertaining game -- so many tricky pins, I am
tempted to dub it The Immortal Pincushion Game. It looks like the
turning point was move 16. Black might have held with 16...Qe6 17.Rad1
0-0-0. Instead, after 16...Be6? 17.Rad1 f5 18.Nxd5! he was doomed.
Giving Fritz8 a quick look at the game, it says White's play was well
nigh perfect from then on, except that 30.Bxf7+ Nxf7 31.Qg7# would have
been a bit faster than 30.Kg3 (though not as pretty, perhaps).
I take that the ratings given are BCF gradings?

They are YCA Gradings, which apparently bear a close relationship to BCF but
are not the same. AIUI this is due to characteristic Yorkshire reluctance to
hand over money - in this case to the BCF - which means the YCA have a
separate grading system.

Yes... That is a good one. By the way, I can imagine McIntosh at one point
looking up at his opponent and saying, "I wanted to play an Alekhine's -
this is a bloody French, you swindler!"

No it isn't. It tells me "Browser Upgrade Needed!", and
seems to be trying to get me to *down*grade to Netscape 4.06 or
MSIE 4.0 in order to run an *old* version of Java. Grr! Haven't
Mozilla and Firefox [and no doubt Opera, etc] penetrated as far
as Sheffield yet? It's only 30-odd miles further "oop north"
than here! [Coming soon to a computer near *you* -- LINUX!]

Which Java are you using?

I find it displays fine, using Firefox 1.0.7 on Windows, with the
SUN Java (1.5.0_04-b05, according to the About window) VM ...

Ooops. Apologies for this. It's a shame because I think the game is really
enjoyable. In my defence I would say that no other bugger was going to do
the website and when I started about a year ago I thought websites were
designed and run using witchcraft and sorcery > Iwas startign from nothing so
I was *very* grateful when I found this drag and drop Game Viewer at
MyChess.com.. I couldn't believe how easy it was to use and to anyone who
didn't know better it made me look like a genius. Anyway iirc somewhere in
the code it says it's going to check your browser can cope with Java which
is why you have to "upgrade" to a version of IE from a few years ago. If I
fiddle with the code I'll either fix it or break but it's worth having a go.

cheers

btw in case you are still curious if you swap pgn for htm in the url you
might be able to at least get the pgn for the game that way - but i expect
you knew that

Well I found it displayed properly - it was a very enjoyable game.
I think I have the latest versions of all relevant software on my system.

Yes, but which *browser* were you using? A web page that bombs
out unless you are using MSIE or Netscape is going to fail for a large
majority of non-MS users and a large minority of MS users. Compare,
for example, the 4NCL web pages or Tim Krabbe's diary, in which the
games display nicely in Mozilla and Firefox [and no doubt Opera, etc]
*as well as* NS/MSIE.

I had no problems viewing the page in question with Firefox 1.0.7 on
Windows XP.

I've tried to fix this. I'd be very grateful if you'd let me know whether it
works now. I can still see it with IE but I don't know about other browsers.
FWIW the code is reproduced below and I've pointed out the offending part -
which I have excised with the breathtaking skill of a consultant
neurosurgeon :-).

cheers

OK, it now works perfectly, both at home [Firefox/WinXP] and
at work [Mozilla/Linux]. Thanks! As others have said, it's a nice
game. The pin is mightier than [something or other].

Hehe. Fun game.

As I recall, Kmoch recommends 4.e6 after 1.e5 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.e5 Nfd7,
sacrificing a pawn to get black into a complete mess.
