Hello,

Ivanchuk played a few weeks ago a tournament in Barcelona where He
destroyed the "local champion".

I think human comments are more interesting than engine analysis. Rybka
think Vassily played very acurately but it's hard to recognize what were
black mistakes to lead to a 25 moves defeat.

Anyone interested in adding here some comments?

Regards
Antonio

I add Rybka analysis to help future contributors to this post.

And I also add that engine help is allowed, I only try to understand
better why black lost this game so easily.

Looks like 17...cxd5 was a lemon. Better may have been 17...Nb6 18.d6
Qf6 19.Qc3 Re8 20.Bb2 Qh6 21.Rad1 Bd7 +/=.

I considered it (no matter Rybka did not propose it)

It seems white is better in both options 17...cxd5 and 17...Nb6
After 17...Nb6 18.d6 Qf6 (19.Qc3) white can also try 19.Qb4 with the
plan a4-a5 maybe with Bb2 first.
