Installed Fritz 9 yesterday - seems pretty good. Slightly different (better?) than Fritz 8. The only issue I have encountered at the moment is hard to read characters (fuzzy/'italicslike') in the engine pane. The only sections with the problem are the evaluation and time/predicted move sections. The other sections are fine (just like Fritz 8). I have tried many different fonts with no success. Needless to say, I do not have this problem with Fritz 8. I remember this problem occurring after installing another Chessbase engine (Shredder 8?) over the top of Fritz 8, and I managed to fix it by changing the gui back to Fritz 8 (from Shredder?). Unfortunately the only gui available in Fritz 9 is Fritz 9. I have tried 'repairing' the Fritz 8 install. I have tried uninstalling/re-installing Fritz 8. No go. I have logged onto Playchess.com to update the program, but it says that I have the latest edition (October 11 2005). The only way around the problem is to use the Fritz 9 engine in Fritz 8, but I would prefer to use the later version (since I paid good money for it!). Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Any one know how to copy the gui from one Fritz to another? I have about 5 different guis in Fritz 8 (although I only use Fritz 8). TIA. -- RocketMan

Do you have ClearType activated ? (this is a Windows feature, not Fritz) (see Control panel) this could cause such a problem... Yes, I have ClearType activated. Already tried turning it off. Still no go. I appreciate all the advice. Also pleased to see that I have been thinking along the same lines as other people. :) -- RocketMan "VdSM" <mvdstappen@skynet.be > wrote in message news:43732b68$0$11218$ba620e4c@news.skynet.be... > Do you have ClearType activated ? Go to the menu =B4Extras- >Design=B4 and select any other style than =B4XP-Style=B4 (e.g. =B4Wood=B4) - that should help. Since I only have the German version, maybe =B4Extras=B4 may have an other name in your Fritz9 GUI. Franz. RocketMan schrieb: > Installed Fritz 9 yesterday - seems pretty good. Franz Thanks for the advice. I had already tried changing the design with no luck. Maybe I will just have to continue to use Fritz 9 through Fritz 8. -- RocketMan "fhub" <fhub@gmx.at > wrote in message news:1131568901.240464.307370@z14g2000cwz.googlegroups.com... Thanks for the advice, CeeBee.
