Subject: Fritz Trainer (ABC of Chess Openings) Question
I am running a legal fully up to date Fritz 8 on my computer. I recently
bought the Fritiz Training, Andrew tin, The ABC of Chess Openings DVD.
It's very nice except I have a problem. How do I switch from one chapter to
the next without the program crashing? There is no fast forward that I can
see or chapter skip buttons that work, so I try to do it by closing the
current window and then just clicking on another chapter. This leads to an
error and I need to restart the program entirely.

This happens to me on two different machines. On one I am running XP Home
Edition and the other XP Pro. I get the same error on both machines. Am I
doing something wrong? The Chessbase Reader seemed to load with no problem
and I am running WinMedia v10.

Thanks,

Jim

Since you have Fritz, try busing Fritz instead of Chessbase reader . I
don't have this DVD, but I have others by tin and others, and all
run without problems. If both Chessbase reader and Fritz give you the
same error, then it is unlikely that it is those programs causing the
problem. You may have a defective DVD. If not, it might be a video
card problem or lack of enough memory.

If you can find someone to try it on his computer and it still does
the same, then it is surely the DVD that is defective.

Henri,

Thanks for the idea. Please let me help me clarify this in my mind. Are
you suggesting that I delete the Chessbase Reader 9 that loaded to my
computer and allowed me to run the tin (Fritz Trainer) DVD and instead
run the DVD through Fritz? If so, I understand how to delete the Chessbase
Reader 9, but I don't understand how to launch the DVD through Fritz. Can
you help me and tell me how to launch or "bus" Fritz as you mention in your
Email above?

Thanks,

Jim
