Subject: Got crafty enormous, any more now?

I just built the enormous crafty book.

book create enormous.pgn 1000

I now have a 1.5GB file sitting on my computer. I'm playing against it
now and getting screwed up the ass. Still, I want crafty to be as
powerful as it can be. What next?

Thanks

I suggest you refer to 'crafty.doc' which you should have downloaded as
part of the program. A quick search for the tern 'endgame' or 'endgame
database' should point you in the right direction.

Where can you download the endgame files for Crafty and where should
you save it so crafty uses it? Thanks.

Straight from Hyatt's ftp server, of course. Been there for years.

Have you loaded up the endgame files? Those give it (instantly) the
exactly right answer for all the positions where there are N or less
pieces on the board (value of N determined by the space you have and the
amount of time you want to spend generating or downloading tables).
