Hi!
Seems Hydra v.8 UCI is a strong chessengine. But- is it a real chessengine
from C. Donninger, or it's a joke, counterfeit?

also Fruit (up to version 2.1) doesn=B4t support EGTBs

Well, take any hexeditor and you can change the internal name to e.g.
"Pentagon v.10 by George W. Bush" in less than 2 minutes!
I already had this =B4Hydra=B4 some time ago and it=B4s definitely a
patched version
of Fruit (I don=B4t remember, if v1.0, v1.5 or v2.0), where not a single
byte was
different except this identification string!
But if you don=B4t believe, then be happy with your Hydra fake ... ;-)

But " Hydra v.8 UCI"
-plays very impressive chess: e.g. beats Fritz9
-does not support/use Nalimov EGTB's (as all the other important
engines) but still plays wery strong endgame.
-it itroduces itself in the Arena engine window as "Hydra v.8 by Dr. C.
Donninger, Germany" renaming the engine does not change that
information...

Don't let anybody fool you with Hydra-"engines"!
Hydra is a Unix cluster, not an engine of any kind.
"Hydra-Engines" is renamed UCI engines, typically Fruit or one of its
clones.
