Subject: Is Pocket Fritz being developed any more?
There seem to be several problems with Pocket Fritz 2 -

* I can't get it to connect to the Chessbase server.
* Various installation issues

Does anybody know if Chessbase plan to develop it any more?

I'd like to know the answer to this, too. Shame we can't get an answer
directly from them.

Someday the pendulum will swing back the other direction, and companies who
provide excellent customer service and support for their products will be
back in vogue. People will get fed up companies like ChessBase --
eventually.

Yes, I agree.

It would be interesting to know how many they sell compared to Pocket
Grandmaster. The authors of the latter do seem to support it quite well.
There is a guest book on their web site and the developers answer emails
within 24 hours or so. I have contemplated (and that is as far as it has
got) writing an ICC interface to add to Pocket GM. The developers said
my idea should work and have even sent me the API to the chess engine
which would allow me to do it. I can't somehow see Chessbase doing that
- they don't even answer emails!

Pocket GM does however lack one of the nice things about Pocket Fritz
(the database lookup when it works) and some other programs
(ThinkerBoard which allows play on ICC).

I really wish I could find out for sure why Pocket Fritz no longer finds
any moves in their database on my iPAQ. It used to work.
