Hi there,

can you please tell me where I can download Popeye? I tried
http://archiv.leo.org/pub/rec/games/popeye/ but unfortunately this
link is broken.

A new version (4.0.5) was released in Andernach, and the source code and
windows binaries can be found at http://sanguis.xs4all.nl/popeye/

If you are a ChessBase, Shredder or Arena user, you can install Popeye
as an UCI engine.

Go the following link:
http://www.uciengines.de/UCI-Engines/uci-engines.html. This is the Site
of "UCI info by Alex Schmidt".

Click in the Botton MateSolver and you will find an UCI Version of
Popeye.

The direct link is:
http://www.uciengines.de/UCI-Engines/PopeyeUCI/popeyeuci.html

But for fairy problems (for which Popeye really is meant), the UCI engine is
just too cumbersome, as you have to manually edit the input file anyway (UCI
doesn't know how to insert 'Circe Madrasi'....)

Inofficially, it can be found at http://sanguis.xs4all.nl/popeye. I'll be
going to Andernach this year, so maybe I'll be able to get a newer version then.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I hope there is an official
website of Popeye as well. Perhaps a developer of Popeye reads my
posting and provides me with some more details.
I want to apologize that I posted my question several times. This
happened because my newsreader was not configured correctly. Meanwhile
I fixed this problem and multipostings should not happen again.
