Subject: Online Chess Program now plays better moves.
Recently a new Chess Program which needs no download has been made.

I played twice today and found now It plays very good moves.

Earlier there were a few problems which have been removed now.

You can Play Chess Online at:

http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html

Shut other webpages for a fast game. Reload if there is any problem in
starting the game.

It provides you the options of White & Black and there are Seven levels
to choose from

Highest scores is 400.

You get high score when you beat high level Game. You get small points
if you are able to draw the game. But no score for loosing.

Play catiously as it do not allow you to take back moves.

You can play it at: http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html

Start with Begineer Level if you are a new player (100 Points to win)

If you are well then try Easy level (200 Points to win)

If you are smarter you play the Normal & Advanced Levels.

Advanced levels take lot of time So play higher levels only if you have
good time.

When you beat the Computer your score will be added to the database and
displayed at Hall of Fame.

To Play Chess Visit: http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html

Now the Chess game seems to be working well.

All problems has been shorted out from the Chess Game.

I was worried when people started complaining with problems But now
they have been rectified. There was a little program error. Now that
program error has been removed.

Play the game at:
http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html

Only if someone finds any error then it can be rectified. So please
provide full length of the Game where the Problem occured.

Well do not complain for Games played with Beginner & Easy levels they
play very fast. Play with Normal & Advance level you want tough
competition.
(It is FREE to play Higher Levels)

Bye
Sanjay.

I don't have time to play games where the computer is taking a minute a
move. Fritz can destroy me playing at a second or so a move so your
program should be able to do just fine at 30s per move.

The current version seems to play better than previous versions but still
loses quickly. This in Easy mode with me playing white.

1.e3 d5 2.Nf3 Bg4 3.c4 Bxf3 4.Qxf3 dxc4 5.Bxc4 Nf6 6.Qxb2 Nbd7 7.Qb2
{threat: Bxf7 mate} Ne5 8.Bb5+ c6 9.Ba4 Ne4 10.d4 Rb8 11.dxe5 Rxb3
12.Bxc3+ Qd7 13.Bxd7+ Kxd7 14.axb3

and White is a whole rook up.

This is Easy mode with me playing Black.

1.d4 c5 2.dxc5 e6 3.b4 a5 4.bxa5 Bxc5 5.Bd2 Qf6! 6.Bc3 Bxf7+ 7.Kd2 Qf4+
8.e3?? Qxe3#

Do I win a prize for fastest kill?

Last hour there was a mistake which was rectified that's the reason it
took long time. Now it does not take long and moves very well planned
moves.

Visit: http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html and play a new
game to see how good it is working.

I suppose you play higher levels.

If any problem still there that will also be corrected.

Now after rectifying the problem of other Guy the computer
automatically corrected your Problem

It actually was: 1.e4 d5 2. ed5 Qd5 3. Nc3 Qe5 4. Be2 Bg4 5.Nf3 Bf3 6.
gf3
a6 7. d4 Qe6 ???

7. d4 P-c6 !!!

Now it is playing P-c6 instead

There was a problem which I rectified in morning.

You can see it is working well at (The new move)

If I understand correctly, you díd change the game overnight. When I play it
now it dóes play c6 after Bf4.
So I cannot get to my other, more acute problem with it, being the black
King capturing the opponents Queen that is protected by a bishop.
Don't get me wrong, I do admire your efforts, and you're better at this than
me now, but adjusting your program for every single possible game-move seems
too hard.

It's been a long-standing bug with this program that it doesn't recognize
checkmate, only capture of the king as ending the game. This has been
mentioned more times than one would care to count but hasn't been fixed.

6.Bf4 Qc5 (How can you move your Bishop when Pawn at d2 is blocking it?

Instead I Played

6. P-f4 Qc5 7.Ng3 B-g6 Again it moved Bishop instead of Queen else
Queen can be killed by Pawn at f4.

You're right -- I miswrote the game. Sorry. It should be

1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qe5+ 4.Ne2 Bg4 5.f3 Bf5 6.d5 Qe6 7.Bf5 Qc4
8.Ng3 Qe6+ 9.Be2 c6 10.d5 cxd5 11.Nxd5 Bxc2?? 12.Nc7#

And it occurs to me that your program might seem much faster to me because
I'm now playing it on a 1.7GHz Athlon and I was previously playing it on a
300MHz K6-2.

When I played it yesterday, I got that very line (and later the King
couldn't handle being mated, so it took my Q illegally). So you either
changed it overnight, or your game is cheating you.

Cool. That's a definite improvement. Alas, it now loses even faster.

1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qe6+ 4.Ne2 Bg4 5.f3 Bf5 6.Bf4 Qc5 7.Ng3 Qe6+
8.Be2 c6 9.d5 cxd5 10.Nxd5 Bxc2?? 11.Nc7#

and it *still* doesn't recognize checkmate. The game is over when the
king cannot escape check: it is wrong to wait until the king is captured.

Your program still plays too many queen moves early on. Try changing the
evaluation function to give a bonus for developing minor pieces towards
the centre.

Yes, thats true the Chess Game is now very fast and makes very clever
moves even for a good Player.

Beginner & Easy levels are for Children for good player I suggest them
to play Normal & Advance levels.

Chess is my Passion.

Too fast. You tell it to take ten seconds a move and it mainly moves
instantly except that sometimes, it takes several minutes. While it's
thinking, if it starts by saying ``Thinking about Qf2'' (or whatever
move), I've never seen it change its mind. Your search code looks like
it's as buggy as all hell.

I've also seen it take several minutes over playing its only legal
move. I don't know how long because I had to close the game to take the
last bus home.

> and makes very clever moves even for a good Player.

It makes some clever moves (there was a game yesterday where I thought I'd
won the exchange and it took my knight and played a two-move combination
to save the rook. On the other hand, it's let me fork two of its minor
pieces with a pawn more than once.

I have no desire to sign up for your chess program when I can play much
stronger engines at

http://www.ludochess.com/jester_eng/jester_eng.html

You don't seem to have noticed that lots of people have pointed out lots
of problems with your program. I'm sorry but it really is bad.

The problem is children wouldn't have the patience waiting for the
moves. Today I began a game as Black in an "Easy" game. The game went

1. e4 e5

15 minutes later it was still thinking on 2. Qg4.

Well...

Aw, I only managed 1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qe5 4.Be2 Bg4 5.f3 Bf5 6.d5
Qe6 7.Bf4 Qc6 8.Bb5 Qxb5 9.Nxb5 Kd7 10.Nxc7 g5 11.Bg3 Bh3 12.Nxa8 Bxg2
13.Qd3 Bxh1 14.Qf5+ e6 15.Qb5+ Kc8 16.Qe8#

And in my first game, playing even quicker, I even managed to lose! But
trust me, the program's *much* better than it was before. Unfortunately,
it's still very weak, it still doesn't recognize checkmate, it still
doesn't play within its stated time limit (though usually, now it's
faster; it used to be much slower) and it still doesn't fill me with
confidence about the author's business planning software.
