After a few months of using it on my Pocket PC I've decided to go for the big version. I estimate that my playing strength has increased 200 points since getting the Pocket PC version..... Has anyone noticed that it's much harder to solve chess problems on smaller screens than it is with real chess sets? Heck, I bet I could give even Gordo a run for his money in OTB chess. :)

Hi....have any of you guys heard of, or even tried "Personal Chess Trainer 2.0" it seems similar to CT-ART3 but as well as having practice levels for tactics it also has practice levels for endings and strategy. Not sure at the moment which product to buy so any reviews on either of the above would be a great help. Thanks Morph "CeeBee" <ceebeechester@start.com.au > wrote in message news:Xns975FDB4D68DF3ceebeechesterstartco@213.75.12.164... > "John J." <detectorist@hotmail.com> wrote in rec.games.chess.computer: > > > Has anyone noticed that it's much harder to solve chess problems on > > smaller screens than it is with real chess sets? > > No. But you have noticed it's much harder. > > -- > CeeBee > > *** The Cookie Has Spoken ***

CT ART 3.0 focuses on specific kinds of tactics, so you can practice on the ones where the program shows that you have weaknesses. Personal... teaches by repetition, so there is no specific choice of specific tactics. If you are already an experienced player, it will take quite a while to get to tactics that match your abilities, because the program begins with mates in ones and it takes hundreds of exercises before you reach mates in two. However you don<t have to begin at the beginning, you can begin anywhere at the risk of missing something. You may be surprised to see how many elementary tactics yo9u have never noticed before... Both programs have demos, and if you are hesitating, I recommend trying the demos. Otherwise buy them both. Henri
