Subject: Software for putting chess games into a website?

Hi all,

Would be very grateful for any advice on the following:

Do you know what the name of the creature is that allows chess games t
be put into websites as a move by move graphic (as seen i
www.chesscorner.com)?

Also, is there a version of this kind of beast that would allow me t
annotate each move as it occurs, and maybe even draw arrows on th
board?

Any info RE this would be gratefully received. As a project I'd like t
make a website and use it to post up some of my own games in thi
format.

Cheers loads,
Ti

Hi Tim and others,

I'm playing with an idea since a moment now and I'd like to hear what
you think about it.

I'd like to create an online chess database that would be maintained by
the community. There would be a website on wich you can search the
database and see it online in a java or DHTML applet. Everyone could
comment or annotate the game. So, when looking to populars games, you
will probably have to choose whom annotation you want to display. Anyone
(think wiki) could add games to the database by entering the moves in an
interface or by uploading a PGN file.

This database could become very huge (think wikipedia) and contains
every notable games of the history of chess and much much more.

Is there any interest in such a project? If so I might start to work on
it. However don't expect it to be online anytime soon.

hi,
sounds like a plan. i'm a bit thick so i probably wouldn't benefit fro
something like that, but i could imagine it taking off. good luck!

Tim

Come to think of it - it would be useful to me. if someone annotated i
in a simple, readable style as in "logical chess: move by move" i woul
enjoy reading those games

Both Chess Assistant and Chessbase can do that. Also Fritz has that
capability.
