Subject: tournamen problems in chessmaster
hi
Just a beginners question.
I made a tournament in chessmaster 9000 with 7 computer players and
myself in it. The tournament scedule poped up after each game, and
showd the next game. Then you press 'select' and the game will be
played.
The problem is that I at one point clicked 'auto' on the tournament
scedule, and now it only shows computer matches, and I do not know how
to stop this and play my own games in the tournament.
Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

I think you have to wait until computer matches are done and your game is
next.

I will try this - though I think I have choosen too many rounds ;-)
If this does not work I will send the company an email, as it does not
say anything about this in the manual that comes with the game.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I played around with this, and for the life of me I couldn't find a
solution that worked consistently. I tried choosing Open As:
Tournament in the tournament File Open dialog, but even with that I
was never able to get the Tournament Schedule window to reappear once
the Auto button had been pressed. Maybe I'm missing something.

This looks like a poor design decision on the part of Ubi Soft. The
software should automatically determine the proper tournament mode
based on whether or not humans are participating, instead of putting
the onus on users and allowing them to make an innocent mistake.
Thankfully, it looks like this problem has been fixed in the latest
version of Chessmaster (not sure about Chessmaster 10th Edition, I
don't have that software).

I found out that you have to wait for all the computer games to be
played - which may take a while :-) - but there is no way to stop it
once you have pressed the 'auto' button...

When they are all played out, the tournament schedule will reappear,
and the 'Auto' button will no longer be active, and you will then be
able to play your tournament games. As CM 9000 is the latest version
for mac, we will have to make due with this.

I have written to feral (they recompiled the software for mac) to ask
if there was anyway to get round this, or an update on the way - or
even a never version - but have yet to get any reply.

As I said, you have to wait. Btw i played tournaments in CM before, but
human opponents are much better than personalities. Nevertheless, nice job
creating CM.
