There are about 3 chess newsgroups.
One of them is definitely rec.games.chess.POLITICS.
P-O-L-I-T-I-C-S!!!!
If you have some P-O-L-I-T-I-C-S to say then post to
rec.games.chess.POLITICS!!

Does anyone else think that that might be a good idea?

Five, in fact: misc, analysis, computer, play-by-mail, politics

And, more specifically, almost anything that is on-topic in a more
specific group is, by construction, off-topic in .misc. Indeed, the
only example I can think of that is on-topic in both is the
interaction of the two groups.
