The "Tim Sawmiller Rule" provides that URLs and other links to
websites are not allowed.

However, the "Louis Blair Rule" provides that one must provide
"Substantial Proof" for any statement one makes. That "substantial
proof" will usually be a link or a URL to a website which supposedly
contains this proof.

These two rules are contradictory, meaning that nobody can post
anything to the USCF Issues Forum, which I suppose is what the powers
that be want.

Please reference post 68268 in this same topic.
68268, which I had not seen previously since it went up at about the
time that the system went down, states:

OK, the FOC has officially told me to scale back, so I shall.
Unfortunately, no clarification or guidance has been provided as yet,
so to me at least, the rules are still vague. BTW Mr. Sloan, I only
pulled 3 posts for URL reasons, not dozens, and there are still
questions about those three, since the URLs involved had zilch to do
with chess. Everyone else edited their posts after my requests to do
so, which I do appreciate and thank them all for, in spite of all the
vitriol.

I am glad to see that some action has finally been taken. However,
your statement that only three postings were pulled is ingenuous,
because you sent many many warnings to forum members telling them to
remove the URLs. In a group such as this where members have often been
suspended for disobeying the moderator, such warnings are really
threats which are supposed to be prohibited on this forum.

Such a rule is not in operation at this time.

Louis Blair
If that is not in operation at this time, when did it change? When did
Tim Sawmiller stop pulling posts that had URLs or links to other
websites?
