[quote="Harry Payne"] I don't recall a snarky
tone(whatever that is?) But how would you know what Ms. Polgar is paid
unless you ask? See if Ms. Polgar can name one tournament in Texas,
she was not given some form of gratuity, either monies, or publicity
for. Folks the Lady makes a living from promoting chess, nothing wrong
with that. But please, the Mother Theresa thing is getting old. Part
of the success in Texas is from long before Ms. Polgar, How about The
Dean of American Chess, George Koltanowski, where was Ms. Polgar when
Chess Philanthpopist, Bill Church presented him with a declaration
from the Governor's Office making him an Official Citizen of Texas in
1985, Or when he was given a plaque by the players in Texas for his
life-long promotion of chess in the Lone Star State. Some of the crops
being harvested by Ms. Polgar , is in ground that was plowed along
time ago. To give all the credit to Ms. Polgar, is a slight to a lot
of hard working people, that didn't make a living or a fortune at it.
They did it because they loved the game. Thank goodness for all Ms.
Polgar does, but you will have to go a lot farther back to see who
plow that ground.

In love of the Game.

Very Good. Thank you.

I object to this bullshit as a former Vice President of the Texas
Chess Assocaition. I knew of no actvitiy in the Texas Chess
Association. This is all a bunch of bullshit made up in the mind of
Sloan. In 1985, there was no involvement of the Governor's office. The
issues in 1985 were that an attorney named Pat Long, former TCA
President, had fucked over the Texas Chess Association buy not getting
501c3 status, which was not done until 1994.

I was a sophomre in high school in 1985, and I pissed everyone off by
attending the meetings.

I was appointed as a Delegate to do what I was best at, disrptuing
meetings.

I was also PHYSICALLY PRESENT, along with less than 20 people, many of
whom are now DEAD.

Sloan - this is pure bullshit.

Marcus Roberts
former Vice President, Texas Chess Association
