Subject: I have been sanctioned again
Only one day after my posting privileges were reinstated, they have
revoked my posting privileges again, this time for posting information
from the Affidavit of USCF President William Goichberg filed in United
States District Court.

The notice states:

Sent at: Fri Feb 08, 2008 1:43 pm
From: tsawmiller
To: samsloan
Thread pulled for AUG violation:

Do not post phone numbers, email addresses or other personal
information of others.

Subject: 90117:Affidavit in Opposition to Motion to Dismiss on
Diversity

Here is my reply:

That information about the mailing address and email address of Bill
Goichberg is supposed to be published in Chess Life magazine. It is
also included in an affidavit filed by Bill Goichberg in federal
court. It is in document number 16 on the publicly available PACER
file in federal court at:

https://ecf.nysd.uscourts.gov/doc1/12714288535

This document can be downloaded by subscribing to PACER at:
https://pacer.uspci.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/dquery.pl

Your pulling of this for revealing the publicly available address of
USCF President Bill Goichberg is absurd and ridiculous.

I just flipped open an old issue of Chess Lies
magazine, to see if in fact such information is
widely available. It turns out that dictator BG--
um, I mean president Bill Goichberg, has only
a post office box listed, as do other officers.

So it would be an easy matter for a net-nutter
to send one of these guys a mail-bomb (or just
hate mail), but the whole family would get
rubbed out, as in a mob-style coup. Another
idea would be to spam them, since Chess
Lies does give email addresses for everyone
except Ron Burnett (he can be found at real
chess tournaments, actually playing chess).

To me, seeing personal information here on
the internet is akin to the sound of fingernails
on a chalkboard; I find it rather ridiculous for
SS to assert that the policy is ridiculous, and
all seven of my Fake SS identities feel the
same way. Even my re-mailer contacts agree:
no personal info.! If people want to give out
their personal info., let them do it themselves.

In addition, the rule you quote states:

"Do not post phone numbers, email addresses or other personal
information of others."

I did not break this rule. I did not post the phone number or the
email address or any personal information of Bill Goichberg.

I merely posted the street mailing address that he had provided to the
federal court. That is not against any rule.

Did you also sanction the twenty or so posters who replied to my
posting, thereby reposting the same information that I had posted?

It would appear that SS is unable to figure out
that instead of violating a policy and then finding
excuses (i.e. "justifying") for it, the proper order
would of course be to get a "ridiculous" policy
changed first, *then* violate it.

In other worlds, if Mr. Sloan joins a forum
which has ridiculous rules and regulations, his
very first order of business ought to be getting
them changed, so that he and other posters
can live in a non-ridiculous world.

By simply ignoring the "ridiculous" regulations,
it lends an appearance of acceptance, followed
by getting caught making a careless mistake.

Take this line, for instance:

1. e4 e5

2. Nf3 Nc6

3. Bb5 a6

4. Bxc6 dxc6

5. O-O f6

6. d4 ed

7. Nxd4 Bc5??

Now, it never occurred to me that this unusual
move might lose outright, but in fact it does, due
to the dangerous weakening which occurs when
Black advances his f-pawn.

8. Q-h5+!

As anyone from my home state knows all too
well, this is the natural and best square for the
White Queen (and it is about time she finally
got there). Finito! No mas. One dash oh.
