Notice how Judit Polgar is happy, smiling, charming and personable,
satisfied with her lot in life in spite of the difficulties she faces
making her living as a professional chess player.

By contrast, her sister Susan is angry, unhappy, never smiles except
for an occasional forced smile, constantly accuses people, calls them
names like "destructive chess politicians", always demands more money.
She is obviously a deeply unhappy person.

Hard to believe that they are sisters, although they are.

I don't think I've seen a Chess Life since my son's membership expired
in March of 2003. Hard to imagine it being anything but better
compared to how it was back in our inglorious bad old days of the late
90's.

Speaking of this, I thought that the latest issue of Chess Life was
pretty good. A fair amount of actual chess, with solid contributions
by John Watson and others. I thought Elizabeth Vicary's little
symposium with the chess coaches was interesting. Etc. I wouldn't say
I am unhappy with CL in its present format. What do other USCF members
think?

It's a big improvement over the last few years.

KASPAROV: "The small minded leaders of the USCF try to keep it an
amateur game and must be purged like entrenched Communist
bureaucrats."

FISCHER: "I have nothing to do with them...I would appreciate it if
all my fans canceled their subscriptions to their horrible magazine
Chess Life. I call it Chess Lies and withdrew from the membership of
this organization."

FINE: "The USCF is a meaningless paper organization, generally
antagonistic to the needs of its masters."

Is that why they call you "Smiling Sam"? (SS).

The good ship/shit SS Sam Sloan, aka Smiling Sam, aka Son of Sam.

None of my motions were voted up or down. All were referred to some
other committee, however ridiculous.

For example, my Bobby Fischer motion was referred to the Top Players
Committee, even though the Top Players Committee obviously has nothing
to do with the Bobby Fischer issues.

In short, the USCF Executive Board continued its age-old practice of
sweeping everything under the rug.

Hey Sam, how many of your motions were considered?
