A hypothetical. A person breaks into someones home, steals a vase worth
enough to get them charged with a felony; they get hauled into court,
hire a lawyer and then demand of their victim that the victim indemnify
them for their attorney fees, other expenses of litigation and any
damage award for breaking, entering and stealing the vase. Sounds about
right coming from a miscreant, no?

I didn't see "gooties" message. How odd.

Not at all odd.
greggie had second thoughts about it after he sent it, or originally
planned for it only to be temporary. What is certain is that he issued a
cancel almost immediately. This got honored by some news servers. The
message got into google, but then greggie nuked it from there.
That is the only way that my post, which had as a context header only this:
References:
<[email protected] >
was correctly tacked on by google to the thread started by Brian's bold
Message-ID: <S3k%[email protected] >.
Google managed this even though I had changed the subject (from "Who Should
Pay?" to "gootie and greggie sleep together every night") and the
webposting access I use only allows one MID in the References header.
Had Google's sweep never seen the post by gootenburgmen<at >gmail.com it
could not possibly have connected my post with Brian's post and put them in
the same thread.
Understood?
Why did greggie do what he did? Maybe, he did not realize his IP
76.121.230.165 was going to come through in the posting. Maybe not.
Probably just to psyche Brian. All that "gootie" had posted was this :

I think this was gootie/greggie's comment on Brian L's habit of archiving
some of the more disreputable "no archive" postings made by some of my
ruder anonymice "brethren". ;^)
Myself, I watch the farces of rec.games.chess.politics and the
endless/pointless Sloan-et-al lawsuits, and laugh. I seldom post other than
anonymously (and even that only rarely). Since Sloan's mission is to be as
famous/notorious as possible, for sure he has achieved that end. By the
nature of his lawsuits, web sites and xposting habits, Sloan has motivated
a small pack of remailer users who will probably poke at him from safety
for a few years to come, until they get bored with the game. The more he
calls them "Truong", the more attention Sam will get.
