I wish someone would organize such
an exciting match, even once per year.

Take twelve available top rated
FiDe players and twelve available
top blitz players who are not on the
list of the top 120 top rated FIDE players,
and let them play a blitz match.

Would ICC be up to the task
of organizing such an exciting
match?

PS, I have bunches of good ideas,
while rgcm is so dreadfully boring
that I don't bother to share, I simply
forget my ideas. Most of the ideas don't bother
to come back, and all I remember is that they were
good, that they gave me enjoyment, just from
thinking them, from making them.

What for? Do you see any kind and constructive response
in this thread? What about yours? (Well, at least Phil's reaction
was kind if not exactly focused on the topic :-).

Some of my ideas which I have proposed
on this forum were ignored, some were met
with irrational hostility, while stupid threats
enjoy a great popularity. And it's not just about
the ideas.

Actually, in the past, there was more hostility
here, for long periods of time, than these days.
Thus now it's not worse, it's different; but bad
all the same. I used to learn about the chess
events here. Nowaday rarely so. That's just
one example. Think of it, TWIC took off here
on rgc.

Not only TWIC, also Mig. Sigh, those were the days my friend.

Hey Polish! My gnomes can beat your gnomes!

But really - your correspondent makes a point - sometimes people say there
is nothing here, but they contribute nothing themselves - and who cares for
such people?

But not you - you write mostly chess stuff. Even so, or, nolens volens, his
point stands. I wonder how many people lurk waiting for something that is
worth responding to?

3 or 4 months ago I tried this on people"

1. d4 Nf6
2. c4 g6
3. f3 e5!!?

Which is E60, the Adorjan Gambit

I have tried it at some high level play and did okay at 10 minutes games

But I couldn't find anyone here willing to try a 4th move for white - the
newsgroups resigned! later I tried it at the chess club and we all agreed
that Black should play the Q sac line, and 10 people were crowded around one
board, excitedly shouting out move ideas - we were all told off for making
too much noise!

Yeah. Keep doing it, keep doing the chess as best you can, and make mistakes
about it, which at least allow others to comment on the /chess/. And it also
marks you as a real player, since only those sorts of people make mistakes
;)

Well, duh. Of course it's boring if people don't share their
interesting ideas.

I kf'd Wlod ages ago. Thanks for not quoting too much of the reason I did
so. ;-)

I agree with Dave: share Wlod!

You show us yours and we'll think of something original and fascinatingly
written to also share.

Talking of Bill Wall, who recently posted here, I was looking at his
Orangutan book on 1.b4, and he offers a great game 1. b4 Nh6 which ended 0-1
in 19 moves correspondance [Miller-Johnson 1981] and another Bowers-Karnisky
1987, 1-0 in 50, but really over in 17.

I always wanted to have a garden gnome business and 'Rude Gnomes' seemed
like a good idea, but couldn't find any Americans to find these things
funny, or better, who wanted to buy them.

And then trying to culturally adapt, thought of Giant Gnomes or 'Supersized'
ones, then the 'Gnomes of the Presidents', with a special Mt. Rushmore
Collectors Edition. [am still open to [rich, not too smart] business
partners, e-mail]

I suppose I could canvas 'Chess Gnomes', little Botvinniks and Fischers with
floppy hats... which lurk in the Rhododenrons, and the Sloan-Gnome which
lurks under the garden bench, seeing all, reporting all...

PS: just an afterthought, did you get a patent on that Sadistic Gnome?
