I'm looking for the 2002 edition.

It seems he has lots of unorthodox opening ideas.

Myers's books do appear on ABE and e-bay occassionally. His books on 1.
e4 Nc6 still get offered in various editions.

His @Hugh Myers: Chess Explorer@ might be $30 from the great man's Iowa
address. Another option might be to get a secondhand copy of 'Exploring
the Chess Openings' which has almost no autobiography, but an earlier
(1978) effort by Hugh along similar lines. It has 50% the same games,
but no anti-FIDE/Schiller/Keene arguments. It is in descriptive, which
you might prefer.

Any chance to buy his mag, the MOB, needs to be taken. He would
definitely sell you what he has.

If you do contact Hugh, please give him my best.

Used copies are few and far between; the book did not have great
sales. I still think ordering direct from Myers is your best bet to
find one, if you can afford the price. Plus it helps support the
author, which buying a used copy does not.
He also has back copies of the Myers Opening Bulletin available. In
some ways that was a more interesting publication than the book.

In his prime, more like solid NM strength, about 2300 or thereabouts,
IIRC.
I'd sell you my copy, but I rarely let go of a book once I own it,
especially a chess book.

That's the only edition there ever was.

True. You can order it direct from Myers. E-mail me (using the "reply
to author" option) and I will send you his address. Or, you may be able
to find him in an online phone directory for Davenport, Iowa.

Thanks, Taylor. I was hoping to get a used one for less money.

Small world. He was one of my high school teachers when I was really nto the
game. Probably IM strength in the openings and high expert overall.
