A study was done on Inmates that played Chess. It seems that the inmates that
were murders played better and stronger chess than those that were highly
educated, that had a structured life.A test was given to grandmasters and
all the inmates that played chess in ion County Prison in Illinois. The
only ones that could answer the test corectly were grandmasters and serial
killers. Here is the test..........A young single lady fell in love with a
rich handsome man at her mothers funeral.Later that day she went home and
killed her baby sister. Why? (If you know the answer Post it here) Are
Grandmasters secretly phycotic?

Thanks for providing that link. It probably is a hoax, but my only doubt is
because their reasoning is flawed. It is probably true that psychopaths
will give varying answers, but this does not disprove that only psychopaths
and GMs can answer correctly.

They do say there is a fine line between genius and insanity.

I would like to see a citation or two before I regarded this as
anything more than an urban legend.

My dictionary has no such word as 'phycotic'. The closest I can find is
phycology, which is the study of algae. The term derives from the Greek
'phukos', meaning seaweed. If an interest in that subject is common
among chess GMs, it must indeed be a well-kept secret.
