I didn't train at all!

I'm a lazy fuck!

(this is not an imposter; check my headers).

PMFJI,

I don't know about chess, but in every other sport or endeavor, the
time off is as important as the time training.
The book "Periodization Training for Sports" by Tudor Bompa has
principles that could be applied to any endeavor. In each week, train
at maximum intensity (or compete) for a maximum of one or two days,
train hard for 4 or 5 days, and take one day completely off. Make your
intense days more and more intense for 3 or 4 weeks, then back off just
a little for a week, then harder and harder for 3 or 4 more weeks.

Every 2 or 3 months, take a week off.

In a year, have a seaon and an off season. Training is not playing,
and playing (and winning!) is what it's all about. A lot of guys (and
women) perform in competition at a level much higher or much lower than
their natural ability or technique might predict. "Putting it all
together" requires some training, i.e., actual playing.

Just my opinion as a newbie here. I have enjoyed the chess commentary
in the various threads.

Relax. A little break sometimes doesn't hurt.

If Fischer were dead, he'd be turning over in his grave at that rek.

Good for you.

What do you think your OTB strength is now?

Why don't you play in the World Open which i right in your back yard?

Who cares?

If anyone wants to pay my way, I'd be happy to.

The other problem is I wasn't impressed with the anti-cheating measures that
I see at tournaments.

They need to be run like the SAT exam before I'd seriously consider playing.

No idea. Not only that, but depending on the day, the opponent, and the
openings which are played, your performance rating may vary up to 1,000
points anyway.

It's expensive!

Not if you discount the games where you or your opponent has the 'flu
or where you play 1.h4 or 1... h5 by mistake.

But you're such a strong player and so under-rated because of your
great improvement since your last rated game that you'd be sure to
make a big profit. I thought your excuse was that you didn't want to
reveal your s00p3r-s3kr1t op3n1ngz to the world.

There are cheating issues with OTB chess which have yet to be formally
addressed by USCF.

Further, if I played in a World Open, it would be in the open section for
the purpose of getting a GM norm rather than chasing some class prize
against a group of juiced-up IM-strength sandbaggers who have been aiming at
the tournament.

I wouldn't play in an open section of the world open until I was convinced I
had at least a one percent chance of winning it.

You're all imposters, since I am the only sentient being in this
pseudo-reality and you are all falsely posing as sentient beings. So
nerts to you.
