I am in Chicago now. I am staying at the Exel Inn of Chicago O'Hare, located at 2881 Touchy Ave., Elk Grove Village IL 60007 847-803-9400 Room 240. A few days ago, Vince Hart offered to pick me up and take me to the big match. If that offer is still open I would appreciate it. Otherwise I will take the hotel shuttle back to the Airport tomorrow morning and take the CTA into downtown Chicago. Sam Sloan

Btw, when is your next exciting chess book coming out? I've been checking the remainder bins at Wal-t every day now, and no such luck. Maybe you need a few suggestions to get the old creative juices flowing. How about these as potential titles: "The Sam Sloan I Knew" (catchy, huh?). Or "Chess Secrets of the Terminally Incompetent." If you get the chance, you should hire Eric Schiller to be your proofreader. He duz a reel gud jobb. Your fan, Charles

He has single-handedly made > both newsgroups useless for the purpose for which they were created. first: It has been reported that Larry Parr is in Malaysia. Can we be sure that there is a Sammy Sloan, Jr., and that he is in Malaysia? If not, then perhaps some troll wants to make it appear that Larry Parr is posting under a false name. Second: Instead of assuming that Sammy Sloan, Jr. reads responses on the newsgroups, why not use Google's "Reply to ..." function to respond directly to the person who posted the message? How about "turned in their cell phones"? They can be retrieved from Vince between rounds. This is the only reason for "restroom police" IMO

Vince, Can the arbiter check that both players (and the spectators & arbiter) have turned off their cellphones before the match starts? Tyrone Slothrop wrote: > no cellphones during the match. > > samsloan wrote: > > Will the match have cell phone rules?

So true, so true. :( Alas if someone is so stupid/antisocial that they can't get it through their "can the horsey jump?" brains that the people who read rec.games. chess.computer want to read about COMPUTER CHESS (and will go to rec. games.chess.politics if they wish to read about chess politics), how can we hope that they will ever get an advanced concept liks .misc being for posts that don't fit in any of the other newsgroups?
