Subject: Sam Sloan has arrived in Chicago for the Grudge Match with Brock
I am in Chicago now. I am staying at the Exel Inn of Chicago O'Hare,
located at 2881 Touchy Ave., Elk Grove Village IL 60007 847-803-9400
Room 240.

A few days ago, Vince Hart offered to pick me up and take me to the big
match. If that offer is still open I would appreciate it. Otherwise I
will take the hotel shuttle back to the Airport tomorrow morning and
take the CTA into downtown Chicago.

Thanks for the shrewd detective work, Larry.

Btw, when is your next exciting chess book coming out? I've been
checking the remainder bins at Wal-t every day now, and no such
luck.

Maybe you need a few suggestions to get the old creative juices
flowing. How about these as potential titles: "The Sam Sloan I Knew"
(catchy, huh?). Or "Chess Secrets of the Terminally Incompetent."

If you get the chance, you should hire Eric Schiller to be your
proofreader. He duz a reel gud jobb.

Your fan,
Charles

This Sammy Sloan Jr. does not exist. The address is a joke!

Terengganu is on the East Coast of the country!! Kuala Lumpur is a
couple of hundred miles away.

first: It has been reported that Larry Parr is in Malaysia. Can we be
sure that there is a Sammy Sloan, Jr., and that he is in Malaysia? If
not, then perhaps some troll wants to make it appear that Larry Parr is
posting under a false name.

Second: Instead of assuming that Sammy Sloan, Jr. reads responses on
the newsgroups, why not use Google's "Reply to ..." function to respond
directly to the person who posted the message?

How about "turned in their cell phones"? They can be retrieved from
Vince between rounds.

This is the only reason for "restroom police" IMO

I will be picking Sam up at about 8:45. He is actually right on my
way.

Vince, Can the arbiter check that both players (and the spectators &
arbiter) have turned off their cellphones before the match starts?

Absolutely. Tim Just, please ensure ten minutes are deducted from

Perhaps if you paid you child support this wouldn't be a problem.

I too was confused when i first looked it up
GM = Grandmaster
IM = International Master
FM = Fide Master
WM = Womans master
WIM = Womans international master
WGM = Womans Grandmaster

the W* ratings are a lower than the 'normal' gm and im's
somehow fide believes that women need a handicap for chess...
there are several women that have got their 'normal' GM and IM status.

Which wife? Dad needs a scorecard to keep track of his 8 wives and 17 kids
(that are legally known).

On his good years, I get two or three Birthday Cards on different dates.
Sometimes I even get one on my birthday. Unfortunately Dad never puts money
in the cards. I did get a magnetic Travel Chess Set mailed to me once.

Thanks Dad! Good luck in your Tournament! Please send me money or a gift!

Perhaps you can convince your dad to stop crossposting things that
have nothing to do with computer chess to rec.games.chess.computer
and to stop crossposting things that have nothing to do with chess
analysis to rec.games.chess.analysis. He has single-handedly made
both newsgroups useless for the purpose for which they were created.

Not to mention all of the political stuff in .misc that should be in
.politics only.

So true, so true. :(

Alas if someone is so stupid/antisocial that they can't get it through
their "can the horsey jump?" brains that the people who read rec.games.
chess.computer want to read about COMPUTER CHESS (and will go to rec.
games.chess.politics if they wish to read about chess politics), how can
we hope that they will ever get an advanced concept liks .misc being for
posts that don't fit in any of the other newsgroups?

My cell phone number is 347-869-2465

Will the match have cell phone rules? I hope not because my wife has
been calling every five minutes since I arrived in Chicago.
