I bought a paperback copy from the dollar cart at a second-hand
bookstore. It unfortunately had one leaf missing. bookfinder.com
isprobably the best place to go searching for it.

I got a copy for free when some gave me a box of chess books they didn't use
anymore. :-)

I got my copy in 1988 for $15, used hardcover. Got rid of it for $45 or so
last year on e-bay.

I read some where that a GM became a GM because he memorized every one of
Bobby Fischer's games. Though I don't remember who that was.

GM Peter Biyiasas once told me he had learned all the games and
annotations from the Santa Monica 1966 tournament book.

Tigran Petrosian said in his biography (The Strategy of Reliability)
that he had read and re-read My System and Chess Praxis so thoroughly
that he knew them by heart.

One thing that a lot of chess teachers recommend is finding a GM to
model yourself after, and to deeply immerse yourself in that player's
games.

I'd be shocked if a lot of players didn't choose Fischer, and therefore
people who stuck with it would end up learning a tremendous number of
his games. Similarly, it's not surprising that, say, Petrosian picked
Botvinnik. Did Kasparov write that he did something similar with the
games of Alekhine (which again, stylistically, is not a surprise)?

I bought mine (HC) from the USCF for $6.95 in 1969.

Don't suppose you bought a time machine with the $46 you saved? :-)

It's quite hard to find because

1) it's very popular
2) Fischer won't let it be reprinted.

I found my copy from a private seller on amazon.co.uk. If you're
crazy- wealthy, http://www.abebooks.com/ has links to fifty-two copies
but they range in price from $47.87 to $500.

Amazon.co.uk has copies from 17.50UKP, which is more reasonable.

I got $45.00 or so for my copy in an auction last year.
