There are ways to checkmate in as little as two moves, but they
require that one player make very bad moves, for example 1.f4 e6
2.g4??? Qh4 mate. This is called Fool's Mate. Another short one is
Scholar's Mate: 1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 Bc5 3.Qh5 Nf6??? 4.Qxf7 mate.
But there is no way to force these mates against proper play; for
example 2.Nf3 prevents Fool's Mate, and 2...Nf6 would prevent Scholar's
Mate. Chess is not like tennis; you cannot win by serving an ace. If
one side could force checkmate in a few moves no matter what, chess
would not be worth playing.

First, go to the following site and study all of the flash movies in
order:

http://www.chessdryad.com/education/magictheater/index.htm

After you are comfortable with the basics, download the 323 One Move
Mates on the same page. Be sure to read the instructions directly
underneath the download link for the mates. The instructions explain how
to use the Chessbase Light training mode with the mate problems.
Chessbase Light is free, and you can download it at

http://www.chessbase.com/download/cblight/index.asp

After finishing these lessons, you might want to take a look at

http://www.chesskids.com/lessons04.shtml

This has the basics plus more advanced information. You might also want
to look at http://www.chesskids.com/kidzone/index.shtml on the same site.

These sites are designed for kids, but their excellent materials will help
anyone who wants to learn to play chess.

Regards,
Rob

Of course you can beat him, but you probably won't do it with a three
or four move mate, like you want to.

Why don't you start by trying to play other people and see what they
do?

Sorry, I guessed that you are young as you said neither of you know what
you're doing. OK, i recommend the following site with so much material that
you probably won't read it all:
http://info.ex.ac.uk/~dregis/DR/coaching.html

Read tips for beginners, juniors etc. You'll start beating your bro in a
week (true, I'm not being optimistic for no reason). And don't try to beat
him in 2 moves.

Really what? They probably live in different cities.
