One reason, given by Kamsky himself, is that as a kid in the '90s all his
time was devoted to studying chess. These days he has other
responsibilities.

Also, I wouldn't say that in earlier days Kamsky gave the impression
of _effortlessness_. His style was always more like grinding down his
opponents in long, dour struggles. Not that I think there's anything
at all wrong with that.
