Subject: looking for large amounts of played games
Hi,

I'm lookin for large amounts of games played by humans.
To be usefull for me they should be in full notation (e.g.: e2-e4).
Could someone help with this please?

Folkert.

p.s. CC'ing would be nice although I try to follow this newsgroup as
much as possible

Hello Mr. Van Heusden:

I don't know the particular requirements of your project, but
Chessgames.com is an amazingly useful site. It has a database of over
300,000 games, including the best-known games of the strongest players.

The games can be "clicked through" online or downloaded in PGN format
(some with commentary, some without).

Access to the games is free. There are some features (such as the
"Openings Explorer" that are only available for paying members, but the
most important features are free):

http://www.chessgames.com/

For example, here is a recent game between Garry Kasparov and Veselin
Topalov:

http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1333504

Hope this is helpful!

Download PGN games and run them through pgn-extract to convert
them to hyphenated long alegrabaic:

pgn-extract -Whalg FILENAME
