Could someone feed this game into one of those computer programs that
automatically annotates and give me the results? I'm particularly
interested in black's 8th move, and what line does the computer give
for black's 42nd move?

I copied and pasted the score of my game from www.chess-mail.com.

I give

50. Kd2 c5
51. dxc5 Kxc5 (if 51. anything else, then ... cxd4 and the c3-pawn is
pinned)
52. Kc2 or Ke2 ... Kc4 (for white's 52nd move, every other piece is in
zugzwang)
53. Kd2 Rd3+

If 54. Ke2 ... Rxc3 and wins
If 54. Kc2 ... e5 and wins

I'm worried that computers don't evaluate passed pawns properly. I
know that every time I've beaten a strong computer, it's been with a
passed pawn that the computer underestimated.

Thanks for the notes, anyway.

Of course , this wins as well. The power of the a and b-pawns is worth the
white rook.
But junior calculates, and I agree , that after Kc4, the white rook is
stuck anyway, and black is able to win either the h-pawn, with no
compensation for white, or the c-pawn, making promotion of a pawn even more
simple. Black won't have to sacrifice a rook-for a promotion (to get a Q vs.
R ending), or more than 1 pawn, to promote.

Thanks for the compliments. I put a lot of effort into this one...
using my own neurons and nothing else, I swear!

Hello Richard,
Allthough I was wondering if you don't have the software yourself (the way
you post the game is the format in which games are saved in chessbase
anyway), here's your game, annotated by Junior 10. Five seconds per move,
plus a blunder-check to give the evaluation of every position (+ or -
values).
Move 8 in fact seems the only real good move, to give black still a good
game. 8....Nbd7, or 8. .. h7-h6 give evals of +0,7 for white.
Rekable game from you, considering the difference in rating, allthough
white made some poor moves, you played very accurately (allmost like an
engine.;-)).
Greetings from Ruud.

PGN is easily written by hand and I've never seen a program that
produces a mix of short and long algebraic in the same game.

It looks like you are using Windows 2000, so why not get the software and do
it yourself?

http://www.chesscentral.com/software/fritz9.htm.

Fritz 10 is about to be released, so Fritz 9 can be found for a bargain and is
plenty good at doing just what you are asking.

Also, I recommend you ask this question in rec.games.chess.analysis for future
