Subject: Chess engines?
Hello all,

I have a purchased copy of Fritz 8, and it came with 5 different
engines. Lately, I have been doing engine vs. engine tournys, but
would like to include more (different) engines.

Is there any way to purchase just the *.eng files, without buying the
whole program(s)?

TIA!

-George

Can you let use know the results and let us know the win and loses with
each engine as white and black and what time controls and any other
small details like that ?

Thank you..

The copy protection on the ChessBase dvds is the same for all engines -
when I upgraded from Junior10 to 10.1 it asked for the dvd to check I
was a genuine owner, but other than that I've never been asked to insert
the Hiarcs, Junior, Fritz or Shredder originals after original
installation. I've very occasionally heard others say 'have to put my
Fritz/Shredder/Hiarcs/Junior dvd in once a month' but it's never
happened to me?!

My Fritz 8 regularly asks me to insert the original CD. But if I
don't, all it says is "This may not be the original program"...or
something to that effect...it doesn't seem to limit use, or otherwise,
do anything...the program simply loads and works after the "warning".

Chessbase has changed its protection several times over the years. Their
database they protected with a dongle in the nineties. For Fritz they
asked for the CD every 30 days or so. With the latest versions they
seemed to realize, that this is all of no real use, and there is nearly
no protection left.

Ralf

What protection does society have against a useless fucktard like you who
STILL can't understand why notation for chess was developed and is
important?

There is no "copy protection" on any Chessbase product whatsoever. There
never has been. You better start weening off those heavy
prescription(non-prescription) drugs you're on.

Nonsense, it simply asks if you have the program, a copy of the program, or
an image file of either the program or a copy of it. As was stated to
you.....there never has been any copy protection on any chessbase product
EVER.

Chess isn't for everyone George.

Again, you demonstrate a lack of understanding, but this time, its how
Usenet works.

The person you were replying to was not me. If you need me to explain
to you how newsgroups operate, and how to address, and respond to the
person you think you are, give me a shout...Ill be happy to educate
you.

Otherwise...try to keep up.

Good luck.

Jason had repeatedly problems with realizing whom he was actually

not be such an important point.

Almost certainly not. Most of the work is in developing the engine
and the opening book so you'd only save a small amount of money by
just buying the engine. And that would probably be swallowed up by
the extra costs incurred by the producer.

You're the guy that needs to keep up moron. Fritz 8 is several years old,
and two generations behind. And most people are intelligent enough to figure
out on their own that the time to obsolescence with computer technology is
much faster than with a vehicle. Amazing how this simple concept needs to be
explained to you. Looks like you're another one of those low elo, low IQ
trolls that likes to hang around chess discussion groups to try to "feel"
st.

Umm...I wasn't referencing computer technology as it pertains to
automobiles, but rather, your immature comment about 8 tracks tapes.

What's amazing, is you inability to grasp even the most simple

LOL! Again...you lack reason. First, are you claiming this group is
reserved for "high" elo holders only? Second, I know what my IQ is,
and given you "contributions" here, I would feel safe giving odds mine
is higher than yours. And lastly, do you even know what a troll is? I
ask, because YOU are actually the biggest one here.

Take care, and good luck in life.

It's not "name-calling". It's an objective fact. You are indeed a MORON! Age

low IQ.

Actually, that's exactly what you were doing moron. Your specifically said
"my Fritz 8 is newer than the car I drive", suggesting that if your car
isn't obsolete after X+1 years, then your Fritz 8 cannot be obsolete after X
years. Did you forget saying that? They were YOUR OWN WORDS. You can't
actually be this mentally retarded can you?

Were there any words too big or complex for you to understand? Any concepts
too deep for you? I know that basic algebra is going to be very challenging
for you there boy george, but get your mommy to explain it to you a few
times and hopefully it will sink in.
