Subject: Please Analyze this game between Easy Level & Chrisf
Chrisf is 2nd best player at GetClub Chess.

He used to win in just 20-30 Moves earlier.

But now as the GetClub game has been improved he now takes 50-60 Moves
to win the Higher Levels.

In the game below he sacrificed its Rook. and win the game. GetClub
also Sacrificed its Knight but I do not understand whether the
Sacrifice of Knight by Easy Level was correct or not.

Was the sacrifice of Knight of any use to Easy Level? How do you think
Chrisf level of play?

Chrisf is playing in just 10 sec/ move while easy level was taking 30
sec / move. So you can see how fast Chrisf was thinking.

Do you think Chrisf can still beat the Master Level? Or can Master
Level win against Chrisf. I am pretty sure Master Level will win
against Helpbot, Taylor Kingston and other good players.

But I still feel that Chrisf can win the Master Level as he plays
remarkably well.

I replayed this game and it looks like the GetClub
program is *down a Rook*. Nice tactical shots by
both sides, but when the smoke cleared, Easy
level crawled out of the rubble with an appendage
missing (the Rook).

R-a7, Yes I missed this move Ok this will save the Knight. As Rybka
can play Ra8 taking the GetClubs Rook if GetClub plays BxN.

When Rybka played 26. Re7

26. Re1-e7{32} Kc7-d8{24}

GetClub Played K-d8 Now Rybka has to save both its Rook and Knight?
Rook is being killed by King and Knight is being threathened by
Bishop.

So Only Correct move for Rybka is Nb6 and Give away its Rook for a
Bishop.

That would be the one of the worst moves Rybka can make.
I would suggest Ra7 and agree with Bjrn: The position is hopeless
for GetClub.

I have seen many times you give Rook for Bishops. But hang on today
the GetClub game was further improved as a Bug was found. Now GetClub
will play much stronger games and will not come under such tricks.

Today in a game even Rybka did a mistake and GetClub trapped its
knight but then Rybka hanged and do not make any move.

Today, A mistake was found and the Game was Corrected. Now it will
look deeper in such moves.

I played a game against Rybka. For the first time I saw Rybka playing
such a bad game. It played a wrong move So that its Knight got
trapped.

It keeps thinking without making any move may be it resigned.

Keep dreaming. I am not even sure which knight you think was trapped.
Rybka is completely winning the game you posted and has been ever since
black's 8th move. GC's approach was crazy, your program opened up the
position of its own king while still having poor development and that
without having any counter-chances.

Actually, I see 263.1 plys ahead, on average.

In this position, I saw a mate-in-fifty-seven
moves, but decided that would just be too
easy, and instead went for "complications",
so that the game could drag on for a week.

--------------------------------------------------------------

In one of my recent over-the-board games,
I made a double Rook sacrifice which was
*supposed* to net the opponent's Queen,
two pawns, and an ongoing attack on the
mass of weak central pawns. Instead, when
the smoke had cleared, I found myself down
a Rook for only two pawns, in a relatively
simple endgame. Undaunted, I fought on,
but for some reason (the missing Rook) the
tactics always favored him. The funny thing
was, I did not realize I was down a Rook at
first, but only after I noticed that things
were not going well... .

I think the 20th Move 20. Rxf7 was the move that killed the game. He
thought 20 ply a very difficult task for any human.

Really that sacrifice of Two Rook for a Bishop & Knight is very
puzzuling.

Let Help Bot answer why he made that descision was he able to see what
will happen after 20 ply?

You've only now realized this??

BTW, Sanny, please stop saying "So-and-so *_wins_* the Advanced (or
whatever) level." That would mean he takes posssession of your
program, that he now owns it, as in "he won a prize." Correct phrasing
is that he *_beats_* or *_defeats_* your program, or he *_wins
against_* it.

GetClub went into a big trap and lost its knight.

Zebediah pin Rook & Pawn with his Bishop So Advance has no choice but
to loose the game.

Which were the wrong moves that took Advance Level to destruction.

I do not think Help Bot was taking help of any Computer still he wins.
Which means there is something wrong in GetClubs game play.

So Q-c7 was correct move for 2-4 hours So I think there is nothing
wrong with Advance Level as Advance level made that move in just 22
minutes.

So nothing can be done for such moves. There may be 1000s of such
traps in many opening and it is not possible to teach each trap.

I think Zebediah uses some computer to play against GetClub or he is
some Grand Master, Who Knows.

I am happy there was no big mistake in GetClubs game play. I was
worried as it lost in just 23 moves. But as Shredder took 9 hours to
get the correct move that means it was because of the Opening Trap.

Help Bot has also started a game against Advance Level Lets see what
happens in that game. I am very confident that Advance Level will win
him as he do not take any help from any computer. He just uses his
mind to play Chess at GetClub.com

So GetClub Lost because of 7... Qc7 Move.

How much point loss is shown for this move compared to 7.... Nd5. What
would have been the score if Nd5 is played and what is the score given
for 7... Qc7 by Shedder?

Please analyze the Best game between Zebediah & Advance Level.

Advance level was ahead of a Rook but later Zebediah took back the
Rook and was able to win the Game in just 23 moves.

Advance is the Highest Level. So it is the Best GetClub Chess can
ever
play.

Can you spot any weakness in this Game?

Was the Sacrifice of Took Correct by Zebediah?

Is there any move wrongly played by Advance Level?

Advance level thinks 20-40 min / Move. So the games are usually the
best that GetClub Chess can ever play. Still Zebediah the best player
at GetClub Managed to win the game.

Was the game won because of any weakness in GetClub engine?

Whoa! Taking it just a tad slower, I now see that
5. Ke1-g1 *is* castling, so the a1-e8 pin is no more.

Believe it or not, my "blindfold analysis" was going
something like this: 1. Nxe5 Qd4! 2. Bxc6+ dxc6
3. Nf3, netting a pawn for White. Of course, not
only is this wrong because Black is in fact castled,
but the Black Queen can't get to d4. That's what
happens when you are on decongestant pills and
can't sleep, so your mind works through all the
important problems you are facing in your life... .

Now that I have the old 'puter freed up, I see that:

at zero seconds, it likes 6. Bxc6!
at one second, ditto
at two minutes, the same
at eleven minutes, it still prefers Bxc6!

Black has nothing for the pawn-- except what I
suppose could euphemistically be termed "open
lines"; the same open lines you get when you
hang a piece which was obstructing your other
pieces... .

If Black has any plans of getting some real
compensation for hanging a center pawn in the
Ruy Lopez, he's better off with the Marshall
Gambit, IMO.

Nonsense. Rybka defeated the GetClub program
while giving it Knight odds; let's see Zebediah do
*that*, without any computer help.

Bobby Fischer once bragged that he could give
any woman in the world QN-odds, but when push
came to shove, he chickened out-- never once
backing up his idle boast!

Obviously, in a sharp game, Rybka -- or any of
the other top-rated programs, for that matter --
could win in under 34 moves. In duller games, it
will take longer, but the important thing is not
quickly you win, but just winning.

One aspect of play at GetClub is the fact that
the human opponents do not have any set time
limit. This is a huge disadvantage to the program,
which is "strictly" limited after all the hullabaloo
over it taking too long to move and not following
its own declared limits. Under these conditions,
you will find that humans play better than they
would under a strict time limit. It also gives a
computer operator plenty of leeway to eat
potato chips and watch TV, while relaying the
moves between programs-- a plan which works
best at the slower time controls, say... Master
level.

> Chrisf is 2nd best player at GetClub Chess.

Yesterday the Best Player at GetClub who was out for 6 Month Holiday
has returned.

He Played with Master Level and to my Surprise won the game against
Master Level in just 34 Moves.

Zebediah is the best Player at GetClub in terms of Tactics.

Second Best is Chrisf Who again can win the Master Level.

Third Best is Bob, He plays only Occasionally. He too may beat the
Master Level.

Fourth Best at GetClub are Help Bot & Taylor Kingston.

However Taylor Kingston & Help Bot I think will not be able to win the
Master Level. As they take a long time in finishing their games
against smaller Levels. But who knows they may too win the Master
Level Someday.

Zebediah as ususal won the Master Level. But this time he got +40
points for winning the Master Level. Earlier he used to get +2 points
for winning the Master Level. Now he can easily Boost his Rating.

There is no Doubt that Zebediah will snatch the crown from Help Bot
being a Triumph Player. Still it is to be seen if Chrisf will be able
to beat the Zebediahs Score or not.

Last 2 Months no one was able to play with the Master Level and I was
thinking Master Level can never be won now, But Zebediah still has the
power to kill it.

Heres the game with Master Level played by Zebediah.

Or due to the fact that few people, at 10 minutes per move by the
machine, would be willing to play a game that lasted 17 (immediate
response by the human) to 24 hours.

Piece development is good. Tactics, however,
always take first priority.

Well, so he could play a decent game. No
matter how "brilliant" the final attack might
appear, if you overlook an elementary win of
a pawn, you have to pull a cheap trick in order
to "publish" it. For instance, long time readers
of Chess Lies will note that virtually every
brilliant move by Larry Evans is shown as a
diagram, with the game score omitted (and
for good reason). One such game had GM
Sammy Reshevsky /walking all over/ Larry
Evans before throwing away an easy win;
that one reminded me of a simul game--
except that in a simul, your opponent does
not come up with a brilliant escape at the
end! You will likely never see that game
presented as an annotated "master" game,
because LE played like a duffer, but for his
final, saving move.

Ah, then perhaps you have made the

lose every game, to get beaten like carrots,

My rating seems to be doing okay, as it
is higher than anyone else's. I think you
need to worry more over the poor folks out
there-- the ones with much lower ratings. : >D

Okay, I'll give it a try. The last few days I
got side-tracked by the April 15th deadline
for filing taxes. Now, I'm sick; I actually
slept the better part of the last two days,
alternating with blowing my runny nose a
thousand times so I could breathe.

You will know when your program is as
good as Rybka, by the fact that it will win
every game. Also, everyone on this news
group will suddenly stop posting, due to
myocardial infarctions and imploding
brains. Try to be patient, and not claim
your world supremacy prematurely.

> Do you think Chrisf just overlooked the Fork or he really gave the
> sacrifice.

I think he was not looking at everything.
Some players just focus on what they want
to do next, while ignoring other things that
are going on. Me, I would have serious
trouble overlooking the gaffe in the opening;
that's because I try to look at what's
happening on the board.

> In case Easy Level do not give knight Sacrifice was there
> any chance for Easy to win the game?

White left its King exposed to a Knight sac'
on h3. If you want your program to win more,
just improve its tactics so the games will last
longer. The longer a game lasts, the more
opportunities there will be for the human to
go wrong. Let's say you got to where the
average game lasted 100 moves; I think by
that point, your program would be winning a
lot more games, due to stupid human errors.

Yes instead of 7.Nc3 White should have played 7.BxN PxB 8. Nxe5 and
gained the e5 Pawn.

GetClub Missed it because I have thought it to Develop its pieces
First then go for the Kill.

When Chrisf can win playing in just 4-5 sec/move against Beginner why
will he take longer.

For myself even if I take 20 min / move I will never be able to win
the Beginner Level.

You need atleast 20-30 sec/ move to win against Beginner. I will never
sugest you to play Blitz against Beginner as Beginner may spoil your
Ratings.

Now Higher Levels like Normal/ Easy/ have got Higher points. You get
+40 Rating points on winning Master Level. and arround +20 for winning
the Normal Level. While only +5 points for winning the Beginner Level.

So if you are a good player you may play with Higher Levels and take
your Scores to +2000 by playing just a few games.

Yes Master Level plays as good as Rybka. I played a few games with
Easy & Normal Level and I think Master plays as good as Rybka. I have
not yet tried as my Rating is low and not allowed to duel with Master
Level.

One can only play with master level if his rating is higher than 1050.

Why not Master Level thinks for 5-10 min / move While Beginner gets a
penny just 5-10 sec / move.

Do you think Chrisf just overlooked the Fork or he really gave the
sacrifice. Incase Easy Level do not give knight Sacrifice was there
any chance for Easy to win the game?

The sacrifice of a Knight was of no help; White
left its King exposed and made a lot of weakening
moves.

Look at the opening; after White plays d3, he is
threatening to win the e-pawn for free by Nxe5-- a
simple fact which both players somehow missed.
This is about as simple as tactics can get.

My advice would be to slow down a bit, and
look at what's actually going on. You can play
"blitz" against the Beginner level.

This game shows what can happen if the
human opponent is allowed to gang up on a
completely undefended King. But on Master
level, things are not going to be quite so easy.

A long time ago,I noticed that when I played
the Caro-Kann as Black, the Master level was
defending much better than the weaker levels.

Funny thing is, after he allowed his Q and R
to get forked, he really had no choice but to
follow up-- or else he'd be a Rook down. The
GetClub program does not defend well, so if
you can get an attack on the King, as in this
game, you're set unless you run out of ammo.
