Subject: Problem with Convetka CT-ART 3.0
I know that this has been posted before; I found a number of posts in
the archives. But I was hoping someone might be able to help me since I
didn't find a foolproof solution in the old discussions.

I'm trying to get CT-ART 3.0 to work on my computer. When I load it, I
get the error "Runtime error 501 (249)". Then I get the error "cannot
change visible in onshow or onhide". Finally, when I click the
navigator button, I get the error "Acess violation at address0055A4E2
in module 'Ct-Art.exe'. Read of address 00000024." Some of the features
of the program work (help, for instance), but the main navigator
function is totally disabled.

I have tried the following solutions:
1) Upgrading XP through Windows Update
2) Uninstalling and reinstalling the program a few times
3) Burning the game to a CD with the path "F:\CT-ART
3.0\English\Setup.exe" and installing it that way.

Does anyone else know what I can do? I've emailed technical support at
Convetka, but they are a little slow and I'm having a little trouble
communicating with them effectively.

Thank you in advance for any help with this!

John

I also had this problem "Runtime error 501 (249)". What I did wrong was
I copied the CT-Art 3.0 folder and its contents (folders English and
FONTS) to the cd. What worked was copying just the 2 folders English
and FONTS to the root directory of the cd. I then used the cd to
install the software to my hard drive with no problems.

Thankyou for your excellent advice that has solved this problem. To
sumise - you have to create a disc (E in my example) with
E:\English and E:\Fonts on it. It is very poorly explained by
convekta.

Have y'all tried burning CT-ART to a CD-ROM and then installing it? It
won't install properly from a hard disk, as they note in their
instructions. Just checking... good luck! It's great software once it's
loaded but way too painful to setup.

Tried installing it every which way from different burned CDs and o
different computers. My Demo version worked fine as well. I originall
thought the problem occurred because I hadn't uninstalled the dem
version until I tried installing on a different computer that did no
have the demo version. Same problem.

Alberto, they did email me back and offered a different program or t
send a CD with CT ART in the mail. I guess the mail option isn't grea
considering they 'supposedly' sent the CD to you more than 3 months ag
- on or around April 14??

Alberto,

I went through the same excercise over the weekend and have now bee
promised that they are putting a CD in the mail today. If I eve
receive it I'll post another reply to this thread. I even offered t
pay shipping and handling to make sure they actually send it, but
guess they insisted on doing it for free so I guess we'll wait and se
if it ever arrives.

On another note, I bought the Personal Chess Trainer from a differen
site. It has a different touch than CT-ART but has one big plus - tha
it actually works after you pay for it.

Anyway, good luck in your efforts. Let us know if you do receive you
CT-ART CD at some point

John,

I just ordered Ct-Art and have exactly the same problem. I suppose
should have researched this a little more before ordering.

Anyway, If you do find a solution to this or have any luck dealing wit
the vendor, I'd be happy if you could share any progress.

Regards,

Very frustrated...

I'm more frustaed!!!!
I had the same bad experience even if the demo vesion was working fine!
I wrote to Convekta asking help for solving the problem and they
assumed the error was caused by bad ftp procedure (I bought Ct-art in
downloading version); Convekta proposed to send me the original CD Rom
in order to sure all would be ok.
After several reminder I'm yet in the initial position :-[[[[

Thanks.
Im waiting for the CD and I hope all we go right. The strange think is
that the demo downloaded from your site works good!
