Yes, they can and have crossed genes from animals and plants, for
example to grow animal extracts (insulin?, maybe that was bacteria
and animal genes). I think the DNA between a plant and a human
actually matches up to 60%.

Well it's not sold at Amazon.com so I can't/won't buy it. I'm sure
it's interesting though.

If it says "International Chess Calendar" on the front, with
pictures of three books including "Topalov-Kramnik: 2006 World Chess
Championship," then the answer is yes.

Is that the one that I can but over the counter at Chess & Bridge,
Euston Road (M Pein's shop)?

And happy 135th today to Harry Pillsbury, born this day in 1872.
Also another American GM, Ron Henley, is 51 today, according to the
same calendar.

BTW, the 2008 calendar is available now:

http://uscfsales.com/item.asp?PID=1096

Featured personalities for 2008 include Rubinstein, Portisch,
Kasparov, Bird, Duras, Atkins, Tal, and Lilienthal, and featured
events include the 1958 Smyslov-Botvinnik rematch, Alekhine's record-
setting blindfold simul at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, the 1908
Lasker-Tarrasch World Championship match, and the 1933 Flohr-Botvinnik
match.
Preparing the calendar each year is my favorite piece of chess
writing and historical research. I hope rgc readers will take a look.
