So just move my pawns up one square at a time , e-2 , e-3 , h2-h3 type
moves ?
Just keep our pawns separate as long as possible ?

is the only for blitz ?

If i set my Ivan computer for a 30 min game. Ivan is I700 to I800 ELO ,
somewhere in between that range ...
Would a 30 min game be to long to play with your blockade strategy ?

This sounds like what is known as the
hippopotamus, not really a "blockade".

A respectable version of the idea was seen
in the games of Gary Kasparov, when he
played the ...e6 and ...d6 system of the
Sicilian Defense; those two central pawns
(attempt to) keep the enemy pieces at bay.

A blockade is different; think of blocking an
isolated pawn with a Knight or Bishop; or even
blocking the further advance of a pawn mass
by blocking it with your own pawns.

At times, the Navy has utilized a "blockade"
in some war or other insignificant action; this
obviously cannot be compared to the vastly
superior importance of chess; as one famous
philosopher put it: "Chess is too short for life."

I went to your chat room but for me it was not a chat room but it was
news articles i could click on ..

A guy who lives in England played my Ivan and he lost ..The way we
did it , he is 8 hours a head of me so when he woke up to go to work he
wold send me his move , then when i woke up id send him Ivans move ,
then when he got home from work he would send his move and then when i
got home from work id send Ivans move ..two moves a day ...Then on our
days off id come on line around 7 or 8 AM and he come on line at 3 or 4
PM , we had it set up , and then we would make moves over the e mail ,
maybe 5 or 6 or I0 , just depends on how long he had and play like
that..Then we found a chat room and went in there and played a live game
, me vs him ..I played his Fritz too and lost , His Fritz beat Ivan too
as black and white..

Id like to watch you play Ivan with your blockage stratagy , i can
set Ivan for a 30 Min game too.... ..Not sure what the ELO is at 30 min
?

can you go to star chat servace ? That is the chat area i played that
guy on..
I just e mailed it too him and told him what chat area to click on and
we had a time set and it worked....

I work Mon , 4.00 AM , Tue , 4.I5 AM , fri , 4.I5 AM ..Wed i am having a
garage door opener installed at 8.I5 AM and that will take a few
hours....

not even play get club chess ...

I have only won one game at that level , i wish i recorded it ..I have

I have played Fritz a few times and i can see the weakness Ivan has in
the end game but i am not a strong enough player to be able to exploit
its weekness..

Over the next few weeks i have lots of time on my hands because my job

Ok we will play Here Only.

Before We Start Playing Which level do you wish to play with?

1. Beginner: 5-10 sec/move
2. Easy: 20-40 sec/move
3. Normal 1-2 min/move
4. Master 5-10 min/move.

Just Tell you want White or Black. Incase Black My First move is e4

Now you reply back your moves in this discussion forum. And we can
finish a game here.

My First Move:

1. e4

Incase you want White tell your first Move.

Pawn E-7 to E-5 ..That is Ivans move..

I just set him for his strongest strength since i will just turn him
off after every move ..

Ivan is set I45 Min , for 45 moves ...My ( I ) = a one ..my number one
does not work..

Ivan is between I700 and I800 ELO ....Not sure where in that range ...

by the way webtv can not down load stuff either , as for real computers
, the library has them but ours is closed until May 8th , they have been
renovating it.....

This strategy is rather specialized. You are probably better off
playing regular moves against weaker computer engines. If you have to
play one that is much higher rated, then it may be worth investigating.
