Subject: To Answer Donna Alarie's Question
From the USCF Issues Forum

Hal Bogner:
Rest assured, though, that the people involved do post here regularly,
and can write about it if they so desire. And rest assured that the
person who spread this assertion is someone who you yourself have used
as a conduit to pass documents to Ms. Polgar, and who has received and
published at least one confidential document from Ms. Polgar and/or Mr.
Truong.

Donna Alarie:
Nice. Please tell me exactly what documents I have passed to a conduit
to Ms. Polgar. I'm all ears.
--------------------------------------------

Donna, you have told me that you have passed and received financial data
about the USCF's finances to and from Polgar via Sevan Muradian.
Further, you have told me that you have used Sevan Muradian to to convey
information that you wanted/hoped Polgar would make known publicly.

Here is a thought ....

Perhaps any/all USCF financial data
should be available to the entire membership ...
You know, being a NFP Membership Org and
all? But then that might put a real damper on
some of the shady dealings that go on!

Simply put there shouldn't be any secret
USCF financial data, period. Hopefully at least
one result of all this legal battling will be that
the organization's dealings will become
completely open to the scrutiny of the members
so that I could, possibly stomach rejoining but
I am not holding my breath.

How long until P Innes begins putting people on double-secret
probation?

There are (at least) three "Polgars": Judit, the
strongest, Susan, the eldest, and Sophia-- the
outsider, who fought for recognition. (Or was
that The Big Valley TV series?)

Perhaps only one of these sisters can be
considered an "American". And maybe even
Susan was rated as high as 2577. As I
mentioned earlier, the SP Web site got just
about everything wrong, crediting Susan as
the best female everything who ever pushed
a pawn, when in reality it is her sister Judith.
I can't even imagine trying to rob a sibling of
the credit for their accomplishments... but
then, I am not Susan Polgar.

I guess that's the one. It's odd someone is making "formal notice" of
snipping a windy, semi-literate rant.

Maybe he was hoping that "formal notice" would sound intimidating.

Anyway, let me take this off-topic opportunity to again recommend
getting a real offline newsreader instead of using Google. The
threads are much more conveniently organized and easier to read. AND,
you get to keep your own repository where posts, like diamonds, are
forever (if that's what you want, and I usually do). :-)

While on the subject, I tried to 'dial up' a response Mr. Innes had
posted to this thread. He seems to have removed it, because it's no
longer there.

Filing in a court? You already have my response - but you cut it out.
I said let courts decide legal matters.

Formal notice that Neil Brennan makes this posting, while removing the
post he replies to, which pointed out that I, and other parties, have
openly declared for the rule of law since the beginning of this issue,
and that courts should decide law-suits under properly constituted
rules of evidence, not parties to the event and speculators of all

I /did/ say that my response was a formal one in response to Greg
Kennedy and other speculators, and evidential materials will certainly
come under review!

Mr. Brennan seems to continue to speculate in the writing above about
the FSS. That too is formally noted!

According to the court filing in IL December 28 to remove Truong and
Polgar as EB members, the Net Zero account was linked to thirty of the
FSS postings. The registered owner of the account was Paul Truong. The
account was accessed from an ISP located in Nashville.

And I'm sure some folks are finding them less and less funny as the

Sam the Slug is wrong again. The CMM production company was set up as
a one off to do the match between the USA and Russia GM's . Thre
months after that production ET started calling us at the behest of
Frank Camaratta. ( At least that is story ET told to me, but that
could be a lie.) You came up with the Moniker over a year after we had
washed our hands of ET and his scheming. Those are the facts.

You may choose to believe ET and also that his book "61" is the real
deal. You cannot in honest candor believe one lie and not the other.
They are all connected to ET.

This is the very first I have heard of this or of any Net Zero
account. Furthermore, During that period of time I was still in
cordial terms with Sloan and even sopke to him about another TV
project. Therefore I can say with absolut certanty, it wasn't me and I
doubt it was any member of the Chess Masterminds production group.

The majority of the executive board of the USCF was in Nashville
during the Supernationals. That was also during the time period that
the move to Crossville was being heavily debated. Perhaps someone who
was on the board( or near to it) that supported the move was in
Nashville and had something to do with the postings?

I want NOTHING to do with the FSS postings nor the poster. I too was
attacked briefly by the FSS and responded to the posting as if it were
the real SS. I didn't think the postings were funny then and I do not
think they are funny now.

I think The Historian has hit the jackpot with this one.

Also, note that the reason that Rob the Robber first got the name "Rob
the Robber" is that he had supposedly set up a video production
company in Nashville to produce the video of the chess match starring
Bobby Fischer that he said that he was going to produce, as soon as he
was paid the $35,000 that he was demanding.

Us veteran chess players knew that this was a fraud, but any member of
the general public might have fallen for this scam.

Hence, he earned the nickname, "Rob the Robber".

If you were, I coubt that would have been the reason. You have a long
history going back much further than that short lived production or
any principles involvement with chess.

I don't say that. I haven't accused anyone of making the fake
postings. I've merely commented on the various computer reports.
However, it's interesting that the postings, as described in the
USCF's filing, began from a Nashville- based account two weeks before
Truong, Polgar, Innes, and Mitchell were in Nashville filming that
program. Polgar and Truong had been in Nashville before the day of
filming, in April at the Supernationals, and they probably were in
that Tennessee city prior to the broadcast.

As an aside, at least one of the fake postings during this period
libeled me; I believe I was singled out because I had criticized the
publicity for the Chess Masterminds program.

THIS CRAZY WORLD OF CHESS by GM Larry Evans (page 247)

81. TV or not TV

September 5, 2005

Poker became a surprising hit on TV once big bucks entered the
picture. But many people doubt that chess is ready for prime time.

Chess has no bouncing balls, as in tennis, that glue you to the tube.
To follow the action you must have enough knowledge to savor its
nuances.

There=92s the rub.

True, the Fischer-Spassky title match in 1972 captured high ratings.
But who has the patience to watch lesser mortals huddled motionless
over a board for hours on end?

Bringing chess to the masses requires superb technology, faster games
and skilled commentators to captivate a largely untutored audience. A
two-hour pilot pitting Russia against the USA took place in July on
four boards over the Net with music by Bering Strait, a Nashville band
of young Russians who earned a Grammy award in 2002 for Best Country
Music.

Each player had 20 minutes per game plus five seconds a move and faced
the same rival twice. The jury is still out on this noble experiment
that was syndicated on TV via satellite by Martin Broadcasting.

All four members of the American squad were immigrants! The American
team consisted of Polgar (2577), Onischuk (2628), Gulko (2589), and
Stripunsky (2565), while the Russian team comprised Khalifman (2658),
Sakaev (2672), Aleksey (2625), and Vitiugov (2519).

Russia won 6-2.

Filing in a court? You already have my response - but you cut it out.
I said let courts decide legal matters.

Formal notice that Neil Brennan makes this posting, while removing the
post he replies to, which pointed out that I, and other parties, have
openly declared for the rule of law since the beginning of this issue,
and that courts should decide law-suits under properly constituted
rules of evidence, not parties to the event and speculators of all
kinds.

I /did/ say that my response was a formal one in response to Greg
Kennedy and other speculators, and evidential materials will certainly
come under review!

Mr. Brennan seems to continue to speculate in the writing above about
the FSS. That too is formally noted!

The Historian has just noticed something that might turn out to be
very important.

The Netzero account that was used to make some of "Fake Sam Sloan"
postings by Paul Truong has been shown to be located in Nashville,
Tennessee.

This is surprising, because Nashville has no known connection with
Polgar or Truong.

However, Nashville is the home of Rob "The Robber" Mitchell, a good
buddy of both Phil Innes and Susan Polgar.

So, it seems likely that Rob "The Robber" Mitchell may be involved in
the Fake Sam Sloan postings.

Does it serve any purpose re-hashing this in public? Why can't people
simply let nature and the courts take their course and THEN discuss
things? Isn't all else simply conjecture until the court has ruled?

Purpose? Exchanging information. Enhancing our own understanding.
Making others aware of things they should know. Entertainment.
Passing time. Practice. Etc.

Why not wait until the World Series ends and then discuss the season?
Being engaged usually feels better than being apathetic. YMMV.

Not really.

There are levels of uncertainty, ranging from pure conjecture to
reasoned expectation. Here, we have entertaining comments from the
whackos mingled with informed commentary from people in the legal
profession.

But Rob, that is precisely my point. Courts OFTEN, MOSTLY, USUALLY do
NOT rule. But things are settled.

This does not mean the events didn't happen. Or that the settlement is
the ultimate response of the membership or the board, or the members.
Or to chess.

These truths are not subject to the courts whether or not they happened
at all.

Certainly, just because they have gone to court that these truths get to
benefit from the healing nature of time.

The court is a sideshow, it is not the current business. The current
business has been and continued to be blocked by those responsible for
the side show.

Their continuance of stupidity should not be allowed to continue, for
the sake of the organization.

Whether or not there is a court decision. And even if there is a court
decision there is no need to wait for one.

The organization need not suffer redress. It should act to remove the
cancer, and then deal with the issues at distance. There is more than
enough clarity to provide reason to reasonable men.

At the moment that there was felt a requirement to ask for court
reprisals against these board members, the reprisals should have been
implemented.

It is then up to the defendants to seek redress. But the organization
needs to move on. It need not wait for nature nor the courts to allow
them to breath. It should act and move on.

The Net Zero account was/is a dial up account. Ain't no hacker driving
by the unsecured wireless connection at the Nashville airport. Not
likely that Truong left his dial up connection unattended while a
hacker's program took over his computer or someone used his computer
while he was in the bathroom.

Truong and Sue have been caught out. The next step is their's to take.

Care to comment on the "Net Zero" account in Nashville? You know, the
one that was used to make some of the "Fake Sam Sloan" postings? The
postings that started just around the time of the Chess Masterminds
program was filmed in Nashville? Do you recall just who was involved

Now here is a post worth taking note of - especailly to those who
'join up or shut up' since there are 2 presumptions in that statement;

a) that joining up will provide information not available to non-
members, and
b) that one's membership status determines the course of the
organization

Neither seem to be true - indeed, if you cannot review the financial
status of an organization why should you join it, and secondly, if
membership constitutes no rights to determine what goes on, then...
pfft!

During the previous election I posed candidate Bauer the question if
disputes between membership and the organization should be resolved by
arbitration?

He said no.

I raised the issue because a master player had suggested it in NY
TImes in order to resolve the 9-month lag in correspondence ratings,
and successive broken promises to when the situation would be
resolved.

He said that cc players paid good money for USCF corres ratings - so
where is the performance?

Once more, in a standards-based world, USCF behave abnormally - and
its management will not submit to independent assessment of right or
wrongs.

Instead we have successive unresolved law-suits which paralyse the
board as a coherent body of governance of chess, while bleeding away
member's money and bequests on what has always seemed to me to be the
inevitable /result/ of such lack of standard.

Its a form of crisis management that is actually necessary in the
military - but who is USCF at war with?

Google is an easy interface for a Luddite like me. Unlike, say, P

I note that people completely accord in their actions by what they now
demonstrate. Speculations and maybe's and so on.

That is merely to entertain each other in public.

I have nothing to add to what I said about the law suits, that for me,
a court should determine their result.

I notice that this comment is already spun, and that no writers to
this thread today, save Rob Mitchell, has actually thought to affirm
the rule of law.

The rest of it is the usual nonsense and legal-popery.
